Content description

Ina Wudtke is an artist, DJ and the publisher of NEID Magazina. Because of this great diversity of her activities, The New York Times once described her as 'something of a Renaissance woman'. Through her work, hip hop made the very delicate move from the street to the gallery. The 'remix' is her main strategy, in her works on religion as well as in her works on urban culture, military representations or artistic labour. This book is the first full-scale attempt to describe the work of the 'agente provocatrice' of the contemporary German arts scene. The book also presents a critical reading of the 'DJ Rhetoric' of acclaimed French curator Nicolas Bourriaud in his book Postproduction.

Was released for the solo exhibition of Ina Wudtke under the same title A Portrait of the Artist as a DJ at studio voltaire in London. Text by Dieter Lesage.
